Imposter Effect

Imposter Effect

I’ve never shared this publicly before. Only my very close family and friends know this. As the world sees a brave, young, and confident entrepreneur, which I’d like to say I am, for the most part. There is a small percentage of me that still questions my abilities, my decisions, and, to be quite frank, my career path.

When you’re young and starting out, you see the massive success of people on social media, and it’s very easy to get shiny object syndrome. Social media really makes you question if you’re good enough.

So then you keep working, things start to roll for you, and then you finally get the massive opportunity you’ve been waiting for this whole time. For some reason, that opportunity you prayed for scares you. You begin to question your very own talent and the work you’ve put in.

Don’t worry if you have those feelings. I have them too.

Whenever you feel this way, when you feel overwhelmed, overworked, and not where you need to be, just know that YOU’RE EXACTLY WHERE YOU NEED TO BE.

The opportunity you prayed for, the business that grew too fast and now you’re stressed out, the room you don’t think you belong in... all of that was meant to be, given to you by God because He knows you can handle it.

In a world where everyone makes it look like they have it all figured out, I realized they don’t at all. AND GUESS WHAT!? You’re not supposed to have it all figured out. You’re supposed to question your abilities, decisions, and life choices. That is the beauty of life.

Think about it: if you were 100% confident in everything you do without fail, life would be boring. The imposter syndrome, the uncertainty of whether you can make it all work out, is what makes incredible stories.

I've worked with over 50+ Brands at Flow Forward Media and even to this day, I sometime questions where I'm going, why I'm doing this, and if I ever will hit my goals. 95% of the time I have a delusional confidence that everything will work out, but there's a 5% that picks and pries at me to the point where I lose sleep over if everything will work out.

Imposter syndrome, anxiety, stress, and fear show that you’re living. Look at those things as a blessing and not a curse. Understand that (1) they mean you’re humble, and (2) they mean you’re doing the right thing and pushing yourself where most people don’t.

Ahhh, that actually brings me to my next point. Imposter syndrome is the result of making yourself uncomfortable, taking a massive risk, and resisting the fear of the unknown. When you have these feelings of uncertainty, it’s a telltale sign that you are living in your purpose.

So anyway, as I wrap this up and go to coffee today with Guy Mrnustik , I just want to let you know that you’re doing great, I’m proud of you, and if you feel uncertain or find yourself with imposter syndrome, it’s because you made the right decision.

It’s 8:16am, I need to get back to work now... oh never mind, this is my work.
